When percussion sounds are needed, Tate depends on Latin Percussion instruments to do the job. He uses various types of LP gear for different types of gigs, from playing drum kit, to playing auxiliary percussion in musical pits. "LP has so many different types of instruments to offer, and they're all made to last and sound great. I've been using LP's Mambo Bell for years, in all different styles as it is very versatile. I've also recently acquired a 'Stanton Moore Signature Pandiero' which allows me to expand my groove vocabulary and adds another voice to my drum kit. All the LP gear I have sounds great and is always a joy to play." Tate also uses other LP instruments including Tambourines, Shakers, and their signature Jam Blocks.

ROLAND ELECTRONICS

Tate has been using Roland Electronics since 2016 for electronic percussion applications. Specifically, the Roland SPD-SX Sampling Pad, that allows drummers to create samples and loops of whatever they want. The module features 9 individual pads, that can have custom samples added, or have sounds assigned from its sample library.

"I've used my Roland SPD-SX on many different gigs including larger scale rock and pop performances, and in pit orchestras. It allows me to have an array of percussion sounds, without carrying around all the extra gear, and can give me realistic electronic drum and percussion sounds in a more contemporary setting."
