Here's another tune from Al Jarreau's 1983 album, Jarreau. I have previously covered a couple of the Jeff Porcaro drum tracks from this record, but this groove from Steve Gadd is one of my favorites. I recently tracked a song for an original project with some friends and lifted this groove as it fit so well. It speaks to Gadd's creativity and uniqueness while still serving the song so appropriately. Enjoy! This is the opening track from Chicago VIII, featuring a double tracked drum part from Danny Seraphine. It can be really hard to decipher what he played on each pass for this recording as the drums are not panned hard left or right, but I tried to interpret how Danny would've approached this the best I could given how he overdubbed on other notable tunes such as 25 Or 6 To 4 and Feelin' Stronger Everyday.
