I recently dived into some of Warren Zevon's music as the recent Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction caught my eye. I knew that drummers like Jeff Porcaro and Rick Marotta were on some of his material, but I had never checked their parts out. This one stuck out to me for obvious reasons. Rick's groove on this is so fun to play and has been a great lesson in playing more laid back and behind the beat. The fills he plays in the outro are so musical and I love the way they feel because of the space he leaves in his phrases. Enjoy! This past weekend I had the chance to perform Chicago's classic Feelin' Stronger Every Day with the wedding band that I work with as it was a special request for our gig. It's not that often that I get to play a Chicago tune live, especially this one, so I had a lot of fun playing it the way that I would prefer to in a live setting with a band. Unfortunately, the audio here is not 100% where I would want it for a YouTube upload as we were battling some sound issues throughout the evening. You can hear some distorting and popping at times which turned out to be a bad mic cable (not mine) on the kick drum mic. I couldn't not share our performance though, so enjoy! The past couple weeks have been spent shedding some ideas with a tom set up on my left, and I am beginning to like incorporating it in my regular set up on gigs.
